Nicholas Matsakis
Co-lead Rust language design team, Amazon Sr. Principal Eng.
Nicholas Matsakis is a Senior Principal Engineer at AWS and co-lead of the open source Rust language design team. He has worked on Rust since 2011, and led the design of its “secret sauce”, the borrow checker. He has played a number of other roles in Rust over the years, such as being a member of the Rust core team, the lead of the Rust compiler team, and helping to launch the Rust Foundation. Prior to working on Rust, he completed a PhD at ETH Zurich and did his undergraduate study at MIT.

Brian Martin
Co-founder at IOP Systems
Brian is a software engineer who focuses on performance optimization and distributed systems. He's worked extensively on caching and systems telemetry. Brian is the author and maintainer of several OSS projects in Rust, including Rezolus, RPC-Perf, and Pelikan and is passionate about writing high performance software in Rust. He worked at Twitter for 8 years, initially with the Cache Team and later as a member of the newly created Performance Team. After November 2022, Brian joined his teammates from Twitter as a co-founder of IOP Systems and continues to work on improving software and platform performance, efficiency, and reliability.

Weston Pace
